Deep tissue massage help?

So I got a gift certificate for a deep tissue massage. What is a decent tip for this service(either percentage or just a set amount)?

Thanks for your help.Deep tissue massage help?
The general rule for tips is fifteen percent. However if you're going to a school those people are usually on an internship so they don't make any money except the tips. Our massage costs $20 most people tip $5 some people tip $10, and if they were really happy with it they tip $20. But really if a massage therapists is working for themselves instead of in a spa then I wouldn't care if I got tips or not. If it's from a spa 15% Good luck!Deep tissue massage help?
Tipping may or may not be required or needed depending on the rates for the service. If it is a salon where people are employees then tipping would be nice as they are usually way underpaid. If it is at a small clinic or one person massage business they should be charging enough that tipping isnt necessarily required

Tip only when you have received the service that you need. (i am not talking about happy endings here!)
I use to work at a day spa, for a deep tissue massage that takes a lot out of a therapist, I would get paid $23 out of the $85 - $100 that was paid to which I would have to pay 10% in taxes later on. The usual tip is $20 for the work. 10% is considered ';it was average,'; and 20% tells the MT that you truly valued the massage given. ;) so, if you are only giving 10% for a tip, you are only covering the taxes. I'm told by employees of ';chains'; such as Massage E___, they only get paid, $12 an hour. Cheers.
I always tip massage therapists and other spa service people (nails, hair etc) 15%.... unless it is a really good service, then I tip 20%.

Don't be cheap about it- especially since you're only paying the tip %26amp; got a free massage. If you go back later, and gave a decent tip, the therapist will remember %26amp; make sure to do a good job again.
10% or 10 dollars is generally what people tip. Of course, if you want to tip more, they wouldn't mind. lol.
10% or around $10 if the massage is $60-100.
